toma's genji movie was 5th place at the box office for it's 1st weekend and then 7th for the second, and then it dropped below the top 10 for the 3rd weekend (xmas weekend). i thought being in the top 5 is already awesome, but i guess for a big budget, big deal movie like this, 5th is not good enough. =/ i guess it's not a big surprise, since those other movies are action movies, more people will see those...i guess bokura ga ita has a better chance of being a box office hit??? i really hope so!! *_*

He went to an old theater in shibuya. he got tired doing a dance (the name relates to the blue sea) that he had to do in the Tale of Genji movie. he did it last year and thought he'd never have to do it again. he couldn't remember the steps and had to practice a lot and was nervous while performing. luckily it went well.

after that he went to the Toyota Vitz Cup Kunitachi Women Soccer game. even though it was a tie, he was happy that Nadeshiko Japan were so united and had great team spirit. after the game, he met all the players who were very happy to meet him though they were tired. he had a surprise for them (i guess that congratulatory big key that he handed to 1 of the players?) that they really liked. he and the staff-san ate curry together and hung out (?) before going home.

now...his cellphone background is Nadeshiko Japan with himself (with a weird face) (lol, he did have a kind of stiff look in that key pic!). They are amazing.. [shining~~]

but where's lalami??? yano's doggie. i read a few chapters of the manga and i loveeeee lalami. personally, i still don't think yuriko suits the look of nanami....she doesn't look like...right for the part?? but i guess i'll just have to wait and see. toma looks awesome as yano though. *__*

i thought only when he's 30, it'll happen. but it's suddenly happening now, and i'm really sad/mad about it!!! i was hoping toma would be on the cover of winkup or duet during this genji promo period and have a nice big poster inside too, but it's not gonna happen. (i guess it's still possible in the future, though.) AND I THINK he won't be in myojo or popolo each month anymore either, because those count as idol magazines too, right? at least in the summer issue that i bought of popolo this year, only sho had a photoshoot 2 promote something and there was no arashi group photoshoot.

but back on November 15, toma and the actress from the genji movie were at an xmas lighting ceremony!!! ^__^ i love seeing toma at all these big events!! and i wrote about toma and i going to this place to look at the xmas lights in my fic a few years ago, so i think it's so awesome that toma got to do this. hehe. Ikuta Toma & Nakatani Miki appear at the world premiere event for “Genji Monogatari”

On November 2nd, a world premiere event for the upcoming movie “Genji Monodatari Sennen no Nazo” (The Tales of Genji) was held at Heian Shrine in Kyoto. Ikuta Toma who plays “Hikaru Genji”and Nakatani Miki who plays “Murasaki Shikibu” were in attendance at the event. Ikuta and Nakatani appeared on a ox carriage which had a production cost of 30 million yen (around $384,000 USD), and Ikuta commented, “It wasn’t so comfortable…to be honest, but I felt tense while riding on the carriage.”

On the other hand, Nakatani who rode on an ox carriage for the first time, said, “Though you can’t see inside of the carriage from outside, I could see outside well from inside of the carriage, so it felt like I peeked into other people’s secrets. Also my heart was beating fast to think that I was on the carriage alone with the ‘Hikaru Genji’.”

On this day, the Outen-mon gate which is designated as a national important cultural property, was specially lighted up for the event, and both Ikuta and Nakatani prayed for the movie to be a big hit inside the inner shrine. Heian Shrine was built in 1895 to commemorate the 1,100th anniversary of the transfer of the capital to Heian-kyo (Kyoto), and the shrine is dedicated the 50th emperor Kanmu who moved the capital to Heian-kyo. It is well-known as the popular place for “Hatsumode (first shrine visit of New Year)”, and this is the first time for a premiere event for any movie to be held at the shrine.

After the premiere event, Ikuta and Nakatani visited three movie theaters in Kyoto city, with the directorTsuruhashi Yasuo, and made the stage greetings to the audience. Ikuta said at the stage greeting, “Since we stayed in Kyoto for a long time for filming, it feels like ‘I’m back.’” He continued, “I am glad to send ‘Genji Monogatari’, Japan’s pride, from Kyoto to the world. I hope people all over the world watch this, and reconfirm the beauty of Japan.”

Nakatani also said, “It may be the time for everybody’s patriotic feelings are growing, especially under these circumstances. I’m glad to be able to send the ‘Genji Monogatari’ like this. Watching this movie made me feel that I’m glad to be born in Japan from the bottom of my heart.”

“Genji Monogatari Sennen no Nazo” is scheduled to be released on December 10th. (Check out the movie trailer on the official site here.)

and i hope all this is not too overwhelming for him....really excited about this movie!! hehe... ^___^ it's so much pressure for toma though...and they keep teasing him about genji, cuz he was supposed to be the most handsome man in the world. lol....toma was really the perfect person for this role! but he also had to dress up as the women in the movie for the PB, so it's like....it's kinda funny right? genji is so manly yet girly at the same time. just like toma. =P

Higashiyama Noriyuki praises Ikuta Toma at “Genji Monogatari” event

On September 25th, Higashiyama Noriyuki, Ikuta Toma, Nakatani Miki, and Tabe Mikako attended an event for their movie, “Genji Monogatari -Sennen no Nazo-“, at Roppongi Hills Arena.

In 1991, Higashiyama played the role of ‘Hikaru Genji’ in the drama, “Genji Monogatari“. He praised Ikuta, who plays ‘Hikaru Genji’ in the movie, by saying, “I am a little bitter, but I am happy. I think this became the work that will represent Toma.” Then he commented on Ikuta’s purple attire with, “He is becoming a man who matches in ‘purple’. I am happy about that too.”

The movie is a history entertainment film that is based on Murasaki Shikibu’s “Genji Monogatari”. Set in the Heian Dynasty, it portrays the love stories of ‘Hikaru Genji’ and author Murasaki Shikibu at the same time.

While Higashiyama revealed, “At first, I honestly thought, ‘Oh, Toma is Hikaru Genji’,” but he was attracted to Ikuta’s ‘Hikaru Genji’ after watching the film. He smiled as he said, “Not only is this Toma’s representative work, it has become mine.” Meanwhile, Ikuta said, “I’m honored,” in response to his senpai’s compliments.

Nakatani, who plays the role of ‘Murasaki Shikibu’ commented, “When I saw Ikuta-san’s Hikaru Genji, it was as if he had a noble and beautiful aura since he was born. I will never forget that scene.” Meanwhile, Tabe, whose character falls in love with Hikaru Genji, expressed, “I’m very touched to meet Nakatani-san and Higashiyama-san, who I didn’t get to shoot with.”

In the movie, Higashiyama plays ‘Fujiwara no Michinaga’. “When I saw the script at the office, I thought, ‘Hikaru Genji at this age?’, but it turned out to be Toma,” he shared, then enthusiastically stated, “Michinaga has an image that is played by a older senpai, so it’s my turn to play that role. I will do my best to assist Toma.”

The cast appeared at the event, while walking down a purple carpet. Ikuta commented, “This was my first time walking down a carpet, so it became a good experience,” and shook hands with 1,000 women who gathered at the event.

“Genji Monogatari -Sennen no Nazo-” will hit theatres on December 10th.

toma's costars always praise him ne. ~_~ and i totally agree about how toma really does look so right for this role. the look of a person of high birth, along with the attitude. hehe. well, i already got that vibe from him from some of his previous roles ne~ this movie is so important for toma's career!! i am looking forward to it so much!! i'm sure he won't disappoint.

about this event...i love how everything is purple!! and it was cool how they got to get out of limousines and walk down the carpet!!! *_* toma is looking so gorgeous and cool!! and I LOVE HIS HAIR!! i guess it's become his thing to pin up his hair in that cool way for formal occasions. fancy + sexy. xD

and toma was smiling and shaking hands with his fans!!!♥ so few chances for him to interact with his fans ne…these girls are SUPER lucky!! so jealous of them!!! and it's funny how Higashiyama is jealous of toma. hahahaha....but it must be tough for toma to act with the sempai that played that same role!! wow. and then they worked together again for the double-play the start of this year, too! i sent toma's birthday card on sept. 13. ~__~ this is the 4th year i sent him a birthday card. it was exciting to know it was on it's way to japan!! (i know it's silly, but i'll miss card-chan. =T i always get attached 2 things too easily. *sighh*) i sent it quite early, but that's cuz it might take 1-2 wks to get there + after that they have to sort it before giving it to him. i hope the card will safely reach him. inside it is a lot of love...sweet messages from myself and other toma fans! <3 thanks to the 13 people that wrote messages for him!! =)

what happened is that toma and her went out for drinks, play darts, and go karaoke with their friends and staff from the movie. when they left, toma was holding yuriko's bag for her and holding her hand because she was super drunk and had trouble walking to the taxi. (toma ALSO helped her friend walk to the car.)

seriously. if toma was dating someone, he wouldn't walk around holding hands with her in broad daylight like this!! he's always very friendly and close with his co-stars. and she was drunk, so he was helping her and her friend to the taxi. AND, hellooooo, her rumored boyfriend, genki was there too!! this only makes it more likely that she's been dating that guy since last year, and NOT toma. =T

i don't know why so many people are like "i wanna ship them! they're so cute together!!"?? maybe it's cuz she's popular right now. and cuz we like the idea of toma having a girlfriend and dating and being happy and all. sure, i'd be happy for him if he had a nice girlfriend, but NOT if it's her. i just don't like her!!! T___T i'm glad that filming for the movies are done, cuz now i don't need to see toma and her together anymore until they promote the movie in spring of next year. xDDDD

BUT at least cuz of this rumor, we get to see new pics of toma and get everyone excited and it livens up the toma fan communities. xD and nice 2 know he was having fun with people from the bokura ga ita team. it's kinda funny that the girls got super drunk...usually i'd think toma would be the super drunk person. =P AND of course, all talk about toma + yuriko is free promotion for their movie. lollllll. yeyyyyy.

i don't like yuriko, and i would freak out if they were really dating!!!! 0____o i haven't seen her act in any drama, but she looks quite plain and somehow arrogant to me and i don't like her. she seems really popular right now, and i don't understand why at all (i guess she's a good actress). but then again she was also on the most hated celebrities list, so i'm definitely not alone. i'm sorry if i offend anyone, but this is how i feel...

the main reason why i hate yuriko is cuz she did some erotic scenes in the movie that helped make her famous, back in 2008, Snakes and Earrings. i dunno why i totally forgot 2 say it before, but shohei as the new nakatsu is soooooo not cool. o___O he exagerrates too much and really tries to copy toma's funny expressions!!! i don't like it. T____T
(ok, i did not watch episode 1, but i've seen enough from tumblr to know i won't like it!) the first episode aired recently and i checked out the screencaps and comments and video clips on tumblr. a lot of people think it's no good. (u can see for yourself here: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/hana-kimi) omg, i hate how they are using the same music (noo!! i love the music and it should only be for the 1st one!!!) and even the same sets from the first hana kimi!! and so far, people say for this episode, things are almost the same as the 1st episode of the old one. most of the characters are annoying or boring to me, and i really don't think maeda suits the role of mizuki at all. i don't know....so much of it seems exagerrated and awkward. even if i did not compare it to the first hana kimi, i still couldn't like it. it's like the 2 main reasons this drama was made is to make money for fuji tv and to promote maeda, so they don't really care and they're gonna copy as much as they can from the first hana kimi. BUT even though it's the top anticipated drama of the summer (according to some polls), it got low ratings for the first episode! despite that there still are a lot of people who say they like this drama and there are a lot of AKB48 fans out there too, so maybe there's a chance the ratings will remain decent or even rise if the story gets better. i just hope that they don't mess things up too much for all the fans out there that are going to keep watching.

i finally got to watch ningen shikkaku this month!
it was not as amazing as i thought it would be, but i still liked it.
i guess it's my favorite of all his movies so far. after all, it's toma's FIRST movie, not to mention his 1st serious/dark/very big deal movie, he's the main character (such an infamous, strange character, too!), his acting is brilliant, and he looks super gorgeous through out the whole movie no matter how much they try 2 make him look old/weird/ill. ^_^ and he won some awards for this movie, too. i'm so proud of him!!

the oba yozo in this movie is totally different from the novel!! i knew he and the story would be kinda different, but i didn't expect them to tone down things so much. you totally don't see how yozo feels like he is a monster and hates people and this world so much that he wants to die. i guess since most people have read the book, the director wanted to everyone to see him from a different perspective. if you want to see a more accurate portrayal of yozo, just check out the anime or manga version. O__O it really creeped me out!! so i'm glad toma's yozo is so different from the one in the book. xD but later on in the movie, you do see more of the crazy/desperate side of yozo, and toma did such an amazing job in those scenes!!

also, i read somewhere that at the end of the novel, a woman says that yozo was a good boy, he was like an angel. even though yozo was so messed up and horrible on the inside, he successfully hid that from most people. so maybe the director wants us to only see yozo as how most people saw him, a good guy. he wanted to hide all that was ugly about yozo.

this movie is beautiful, but it is kind of boring. obviously, toma is so handsome in this movie! the music, the locations, are beautiful too. but it's a little boring because yozo mostly just seems like a bored/depressed/lonely guy (and an addict) who doesn't know what to do with his life. and all his relationships with women (except maybe the 1st one) seem so fast and meaningless. i guess it's supposed to be, but it felt like they were just going through a check list of his lovers. and there are so many scenes and dialogue that are so vague or random. i don't know if this is because of the director or the novel was already like that, but since they already changed the story, why not try to make things make more sense? actually, i thought some of the best scenes were those that showed us the strange things that only yozo sees. it would have been nice if there were more of these glimpses into his strange mind.

my favorite scene in this movie is when yozo and his girlfriend go to the beach. even though they're preparing to die together, everything is beautiful...and yozo actually looked happy, even if just for a little while. and she tied the red string on their feet and they walked into the water together...it's sad, but romantic somehow!

(no spoilers until the end!) and the screencaps i got from the korean subbed version. hehe. cuz i didn't want to DL the huge movie, i just watched it online while reading thru the english subs. xD

- the goldfish.
what does it symbolize? is yozo like a goldfish, trapped in a world he doesn't want to be in, where his life is boring and sad? maybe that's why he has a pet goldfish for most of the movie.

- toma still looks so cute when he's all moody/depressed. xD

- i think it's cute how people call him yo-chan. xD

- i wish they had explained why yozo is so depressed and suicidal (ever since he was a kid!). we never get any explanation, and then one day, he's already saying to horiki, want to die together? huh??

- toma gets to smoke for his role again. i hate smokers, but...goodness, he always looks especially hot when he smokes!!

- of all the women in this movie, my favorite is the lady that owns the bar. lol. she always seems so cool and calm, no matter what happens. ~__~ (i love the sketch of her hanging on the wall!! hehe.)

- the trailer is so misleading. i totally thought there would be a lot of love scenes. lol. i'm glad there weren't!

- his wife and some of the other women in this movie are so annoying. lol. like, they're trying too hard to be cute or something??

- the scene where he seduces that lady in her shop!!! omgggggg. even though it's just because he needs more drugs, and she's old and not pretty, but still!!! wahhhhh. so hot.

- i really love the main theme music. it sounds so pretty and sad. i don't like the ave maria that much and i'm glad it wasn't used in the movie, cuz it just seems too religious-y and too trying-2-make-him-angelic.

- the first lady yozo liked, that lady is the best actress in the whole movie. ^^ no wonder she won an acting award in a film festival in germany (she is the first japanese actress to win, i think?)!! though nothing very special about her character but at least she seemed most natural and likable, of all the actresses.

- i think it's cool that yozo is an artist (since i used to draw a lot i love all people that are artistic. xD)! but he's stuck drawing manga to make a living, which he hates. poor yozo. =/ still, i enjoyed the scenes where he is painting/drawing. =)

- i hate that old man that works for yozo's dad!! he can be so mean and doesn't really care about yozo.

- horiki is a such a jerk! pretty much from the start. 1st time they talked, he already ruined yozo's painting. =[ i'm glad yozo was able to take his job drawing for the newspaper or something. lol.

-i love how yozo only takes the goldfish with him when he stops seeing that lady. LOL. and he just plops the bowl down in the bar. kawaiiiii. ^^

- "boyo, boyo"??? i guess it's kind of nice that yozo met the poet who was dying and they became friends, kind of. ironic how he wanted to live so much but he knew he was going to die, and yozo wanted to die so much, but he kept being saved. and it's nice that yozo did do a little something for him after he knew he died.

- horiki's reaction to seeing some creep attacking yozo's wife made me sick. o__O even if he thought that was her lover, he just looked so pervy and disgusting!!!

- that last lady that he lived with...was she his lover?? i'm confused. cuz she was saying that he's like her son, but she did sleep with him. and the naked toma scene. huh???? i hope not. lol.

-naked toma (even if just from the side)??!!! did not expect that!!! but it's done in an artistic, tasteful way. whew!! (well, i was so shocked when i 1st knew there's a naked scene cuz carry-chan talked about it after she watched it in the theatre. and then i saw the pic last year when some1 uploaded the pic, so i'm not shocked now, but i mean....be4 all that, i didn't think toma would be naked in his 1st movie!!)

- i didn't think yozo's vision of his death would be so short and fast. somehow i thought that scene would have a bigger impact on me or be more important to the movie...but it's not. i guess i thought so about a lot of other scenes, but then it ended up not being that significant. at least it didn't seem so to me...? hmm....

- i like the train scene in the end!! through the dark tunnel, then suddenly a bright icy window and sitting in front of himself (as a kid) and all the people he's known in his life are all on the train!! wow...

i'm glad toma's still keeping busy despite how they said there's less work for singers and actors now cuz of the tohoku earthquake. yokattaaaaa. ~___~

though lots of people say the manga is boring/depressing and that yano (toma's character) is a jerk, i'm hoping the movie version will be a lot better!! and it sounds like a kinda challenging role, playing a character who is kinda mysterious/complex/flawed but still so popular and caring and sweet too. neeee!!

the plot kinda sounds like hanamizuki at first, but after i read about how people say the characters are deep and the story moves slow and it's kinda depressing and sad, it makes me think of honey and clover!! and then i read a review 4 the anime here and they DID say it's similar to the style of hachikuro!! i really didn't like the bittersweet-ness and slow pace of H&C, but hopefully the movie will not be as depressing or frustrating as the manga!!

ABOUT TOMA'S CO-STAR, Yuriko Yoshitaka...
i dunno anything about her but i looked her up and seems like she's a talented actress and getting very popular!! YEY. toma keeps being paired up with popular actresses. ~____~ she looks kinda plain and older than him (but she's younger! lol.), but she does seem very nice ne...she joked about how she might have trouble kissing him cuz of his high nose. xDDDDDD

Johnny’s talent Toma Ikuta and actress Yuriko Yoshitaka will play the leads in an upcoming movie adaptation of a popular romance manga series, it was revealed on May 1, reports Oricon and Chunichi Sports.

“僕等がいた (Bokura ga ita, We Were There)” is an ongoing manga series by Yuki Obata and follows a couple over 10 years of their life from the time they meet at high school, move onto university, and then go into the working world. The story moves around Hokkaido and Tokyo and follows the characters as they fall in love and experience the hardship that comes with it.
“This might be the last time I wear a school uniform (laughs). I hope I can enjoy that young, sweet high school life to the full,” Ikuta said.

Ikuta’s character Motoharu Yano is the popular boy at school; he’s smart, good-looking, and athletic. But the part to watch out for is how he is affected by his girlfriend’s death after she dies in a car accident.

“I feel thankful be able to given the chance to play such a cool, yet very human character like Yano, but I want to do my best to bring some life into him,” he said.

Ikuta’s co-star Yoshitaka said it was her first time playing a character adapted from a romance manga, and she was aware that the series has a lot of devoted fans.

“I want to do my best to make sure I don’t betray the manga’s fans or put them to shame,” she said.

Filming is scheduled to begin this month and is reported to be aiming for a two-part release in 2012.

i didn't think so many people wanted to buy it but couldn't!!! luckily i live near a J bookstore and it didn't sell out super fast. but i guess it sold out super fast on9 or a lot of you couldn't buy it cuz it would be embarrassing if your parents or other ppl find out about it right? hehe.
